A former commissioner for Power and Energy in the James Ibori administration in Delta State, Emmanuel Imonena, was this afternoon kidnapped on the Benin Road in an incident in which his orderly and a member of the kidnapping gang were killed.
Mr. Imonena, a Vice Chairman of the Peoples Democratic Party in the state was also a member of the House of Assembly, representing Ethiope West constituency.
Details of the kidnapping were still sketchy at the time of filing this report, but our correspondent learnt that during the incident an orderly to the former commissioner who posed serious resistance shot dead a member of the gang while another member of the gang retaliated and killed the orderly before Mr. Imonena was taken away to an unknown destination.
Our correspondent learnt that Oghara, Imonena’s hometown, has been thrown into sorrow following reports of the kidnapping.
