11 Burnt Alive In Lagos-Ibadan Road Accident

No fewer than 11 people were burnt to death on Sunday in an auto accident at Macmillan area, Soka bus stop, Lagos-Ibadan Expressway, Ibadan.

According to eyewitnesses, the accident happened after the propeller of a commercial bus (Mazda) from Ogido in Ogun State broke and hit the fuel tank.

An eyewitness, who gave her name as Jelila Adekeye, said, “The vehicle went up in flames in the process. The burning bus also veered off the road. “The driver and the two passengers on the front seat escaped. The others were not so lucky as they were unable to open the side door.”

Senator Akpor Pius Ewherido Is Dead

Senator representing Delta Central Senatorial District at the National Assembly, Senator Pius Ewherido has died.

The senator reportedly fell down three days ago and collapsed at his Abuja home while making a phone call and had been hospitalized at the National Hospital Abuja in preparation for treatment in Germany when he suddenly collapsed and died in hospital today.

175 Inmates Escaped From Jail-Break In Akure Prison

More than 170 inmates have been set free during an attack at the Olokuta medium security prison at the Nigerian Prison Service (NPS) in Akure Sunday morning.

The incident occured when some heavily armed gunmen struck at the prison facility with explosives and other dangerous weapons shooting sporadically into the air.

The incidence happened around 12:10am in the early hours of the day, leaving no fewer than four person injured during a gun battle.

Sources at the prison revealed that the bandits were calling on the names of those who they wanted to release while they gathered them in a corner and broke the prison for them to escape.

A Nigerian Victor Olalusi has emerged the best graduating student with a grade point of 5.0 in the Faculty of Clinical Sciences at the Russian National Research Medical University, Moscow.
